An extraction fan creates airflow, but airflow alone does not guarantee effective dust capture.

If the capture point is too far from the source, the dust may escape. If the ducting is incorrectly sized, material can settle inside it or the system may use more energy than necessary. If the filtration equipment is not suited to the dust, system performance and maintenance requirements can be affected.

Extraction fans

Cyclones
